| Description |
The Cultural & Identity Support Graduate Assistant (GA) is expected to assist in the
development and implementation of initiatives that cater to students’ holistic growth
and development and serve the mission and vision of the Cultural & Identity Support
office within the Thrive Center for Student Success. Graduate Assistants employed
by Cultural & Identity Support will develop and strengthen their professional competencies
through hands-on experience and active engagement in student support services in one
or more of the following areas:

- The position is part-time, up to 20 hours/week, starting the 1st week of August and
ending the 3rd week of May that totals up to 600 hours between both semesters
- Compensation is $20/hour
- The GA will be permitted to procure additional employment with the approval of the
supervisor

General Responsibilities
|
-
Assist with MAP: A Navigational Tool for Student Success, a Pre-Fall program for first
year students. Specific tasks include assisting with the training of MAP Navigators
(student leaders), and oversight of the MAP program evaluation, including writing
the MAP survey report, administering & collecting the survey, and ensuring 100% completion
rate. Attendance and participation throughout the 5-day program is mandatory.

Aid Cultural & Identity Support professional staff in data collection and assessment
efforts, including strategic planning and branding of CIS. Help to organize focus
groups, tabling efforts, and other storytelling measures.

Working alongside the CIS staff to aid in the creation and implementation of programming
designed to best support and meet the needs of students who hold intersectional identities,
including but not limited to BIPOC, Queer, First-Generation students, and Commuter
students. Help in outreach to specialized populations and assist with program logistics
and support. Attend programs/events as schedule permits, and as needed.

Serve as a liaison to multiple designated student organizations, serving as the first
point of contact for student organizations, maintaining oversight of the program planning
checklist, helping to coordinate campus-wide cultural heritage celebrations, maintaining
regular attendance at executive board and general body member meetings, and maintaining
regular communication to address the needs and concerns of those organizations.

Alongside other Graduate Assistants, organize, plan, and execute Academic & Career
Enrichment (ACE) Workshops, managing both in-person offerings on a bi-monthly basis,
as well as virtual offerings (creating and posting content on the YouTube Channel
and creating social media digital content).

Assist with student success coaching efforts of CIS, including proactive outreach
at midsemester to CIS student leaders with two or more academic deficiencies.

Attend weekly Cultural & Identity Support staff meetings and supervision meetings.

as cultural/heritage celebrations, BSA Fashion Show, Open Houses, Family Weekend,
etc.) that take place both in the evening and on weekends.

Establish rapport and positive working relationships with students by maintaining
visibility in the Thrive Center office and Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE)
during designated office hours.

Other duties as assigned.

Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with their supervisor.

Available to support evening/night and weekend activities.

Maintain office hours & visibility in the CIE.

Serve as a positive role model and advocate for CIS students.
